Even with 4 of Mansfield's team in the top 25 at the finish, the Hornets were bested by a strong Lincoln-Sudbury contingent
today, ending their 3 year string of Div 2 Eastern Ma Championship wins. The team did what they were supposed to do,
go out in a group, work together and try and run down competitiors in front of them. Junior Dan Caugey did an excellent
job of staying in the hunt, as he got out right at the front of the pack across the Franklin Park field and then positioned
himself well, staying with the top 10 throughout the race. Brendan McCarthy and Mitch Negus ran very well, as they stayed
within stricking distance of Caughey. Kham Haleudeth, running in the top 20 for much of the race, dropped off a few spots
near the finish, while Zach Frazier, filling in as Mansfield's 5th man, ran an admirable race to close out the scoring.
Lincoln-Sudbury had 5 of their runners in the top 25, making it a tough challenge for the Hornets to overtake them.
The final score was Lincoln-Sudbury 64, Mansfield 86. Chelmsford at 94 and Marshfield, who had the top two finishers,
rounded out the scoring at 109 and will advance with the other 3 teams to the championship finals next week.
