Division 2 Eastern Massachusetts Divisional Championships

On Saturday the Hornet Harriers ran to the school’s seventh Divisional Title in the past eight years and the third straight in Division II (MHS finished 2nd in 2007). This group of unexpected champions made the alumni proud. The entire group ran a controlled first mile. Shayne Collins, eventual individual champion, surged to Bear Cage Hill after the mile mark and ran by himself the rest of the way finishing in a comfortable 16:02. Junior Josh Lampron was instructed to hang onto the Marshfield duo (Hubbard, Thomas). Josh was able to break away from his competitors coming out of the Wilderness Loop grabbing the runner-up position just behind Shayne. Senior Matt Cioe had another consistent, solid, reliable performance; moving up from the low 20’s to a remarkable 5th place by the time he reached the finish line. Meanwhile, Mitch Negus and Kham Haleudeth were making their way efficiently through the field as well. After coming through the mile mark in the low 40’s placing, Mitch ran his way to a medal with his 9th place finish.
Khampasong was with Mitch at the mile and worked hard to reel in a lot of points for the green machine. Kham rounded out the scoring finishing 25th. Nate Michener finished 39th in 17:49. Senior Joe Cole pushed his teammates to move up through the 2 mile mark.
