A total of 17 New England leading marks from the girls and a clean dozen from the boys were sandwiched in between three New England and four Massachusetts records this weekend at the New Balance Indoor National High School Track & Field Championships at the Armory Track and Field Center, Manhattan, New York.

Highlighting the girls performances was the Bloomfield, Connecticut 4 x 400-Meter relay team which ran to a New England record of 3:51.36. That time shattered the 29-year-old previous best of 3:53.14 set by Brookline, Mass. in 1982. The Bloomfield team of Tiffany Harrison, Dezarell May, Chantelle,Deer and Rayanna Relerford, finished fourth overall.

The Newton North [MA] girls also entered into the record books as they finished eighth in the 4 x 55-Meter Shuttle Hurdles Relay. Their time of 34.20 bettered the existing New England  record of 34.99 by Weaver High [Hartford, CT] set in 2006. Running for Newton North was Kayla Wong, Steph Brown, Amy Ren and sophomore Carla Forbes, who also won the national title in the long jump.

On the heels of his record setting season in the 55-meter hurdles, Greg Boursiquot [Stoughton, MA] entered the records books once again, this time setting a new Massachusetts record in the 60-meter hurdles. Boursiquot, the Massachusetts and New England champion, finished sixth overall, after running a record 7.94 seconds in the event's trials. That time bettered the previous Mass. best of 7.95, set in 2009 by BC High's Cory Thomas.

The Mansfield [MA] boys took down the New England and Mass. records in the 1600-meter sprint medley relay, winning the event in 3:28.99. That bettered the old New England mark of 3:30.44 [Danbury, Ct - 2008] and the previous Mass. record of 3:30.48 [Woburn - 2008]. Running for Mansfield was Steve Gannon, Nick King, Griffin Robertson and anchor, Josh Lampron, who finished seventh overall in the open 800-meter event.

And in the meet's longest relay, the boys team from Lowell High established a Mass. record in the 4 x 1-mile relay as they finished seventh overall in 18:00.17. That time eclipsed the previous Mass. record of 18:04.81 by Nashoba Regional [Bolton, MA] set in 2008. The Lowell team was comprised of Padriac Donovan, Patrick Coppinger, Mike Giardina and Nathan McCarthy.
