Win Beating Attleboro

The inaugural competition on one of the most beautiful indoor
facilities in the country went as well as could be expected. An
undermanned Attleboro boys team could not withstand the onslaught of a
solid group of runners and field event personnel in the form of
Mansfield.
Senior Alex Kuras led the way winning 3 events (55 record, 300 meters
and the long jump) all with personal bests. Nick King had a
banner day as he ran a 1:26.01 600 meters for the win and for the state
lead in the early season. He came back later in the evening with
a fine leadoff leg of 51.5 for the victorious 4x400 relay team.
The distance runners were also cruising along as Brendan McCarthy won
the 1000, David Morrill won the mile and Kham Haleudeth won the 2
mile. Brian Ferreira also scored a few points or so, winning the
high hurdles with the second best time of his career (8.03) vs his best
of (7.97), set last year. He was also second in the 55 and
2nd in the high jump, clearing 6-0.
Oliver Erickson set another personal best in winning the shot put in
41-11.
The Hornets are now 2-0, bur face a very important competitor next week
in North Attleboro, as the league moves back to Reggie Lewis for
another league competition.
