Girls win final Dual from King Philip 63-23In a makeup meet that was to be contested on January 12, 2011, and was postponed due to snow, the Mansfield Girls Track and Field team came home with the fourth dual meet victory. The defeated King Philip easily, but will face some excellent competition next week at the Hockomock Championships. Leading the way today was Jen Esposito, who won two events, tying a school record in the hurdles , held by former state champ, Meghan Ferreira. Julia Jones won the 300 meters, Brittany Greene won the 600 and placed second in the shot put. Megan Cole ran a very nice race in winning the 1000 meters and Lauren Columbare won the mile. The 4x400 relay team won as well and saw the return of Emily Broyles, who had missed the entire indoor season to this point due to a foot injury. Tomorrow (Sunday) the team travels to Reggie Lewis for the MSTCA Elite meet, where a few of the girls will compete for top honors against some of the best athletes in the state. Kristen McDonagh returns in the high jump, the 4x200 team of Comer, Esposito, Jones and Verbic are back to take another shot at the state record. Grimes, McDonagh and Foley will run in the hurdles. | Boys Win Big 68-17 Against King PhilipThe boys team concluded their undefeated dual meet season with an easy win against King Philip. Some nice performances were turned in by Joe Cole in the 1000, second to Chris Allen, one of the top milers in the state, Dan Caughey, winning the mile, Griffin Robertson, winning the 600 from the second section, Brendan McCarthy, winning the 2 mile. Brian Ferreira was a double winner, as he powered over the hurdles in 6.8 and won the high jump in 5-10. Bill Giannouloudis won the shot put. Mens Results
